published February 2, 1977

A 36-year-old Amarillo man yesterday was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a murder indictment.

James L. Vann of 106 S. Hayden made the plea before 47th District Judge H. Bryan Poff, who granted Vann a new trial last June after a Potter County jury had assessed punishment of 35 years in prison.

Vann was indicted in the Nov. 16, 1975 shooting death of Lucretia Scott Thomas who was killed during an incident in the 1800 block of N. Hughes.
