AMARILLO — Prosecutors filed a murder charge against a 63-year-old man who confessed to shooting an Amarillo woman in the head with a shotgun over the weekend, according to court records filed Monday.

Lawyar Ewings, 63, of Amarillo, is accused of killing Jessica Termain, 29, who was found dead from a single gunshot wound in the 500 block of North Fillmore Street about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

About the same time police found Termain, Ewings reportedly called police to turn himself in. Ewings reportedly gave officers a written confession.

Ewings remained in the Potter County Detention Center late Monday on a $50,000 bond for murder, according to jail logs. — Amarillo Globe-News
