On May 14th, APD officers were dispatched to Amarillo Boulevard and Polk Street on a major traffic accident call. On the scene, officers found 18-year-old Abdul Mohamed in one of the vehicles, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Mohamed was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Investigators issued murder warrants for five teenagers. Arrested on June 24, 2021, 19-year-old Makuc David Makuc was the last of the five suspects to be taken into custody.

He was booked into Potter County Detention Center on charges of aggravated assault, a probation violation for evading arrest, and murder. Records also show that an immigrations hold has been placed on him in lieu of a $300,000 bond.

19-year-old Nsengiyumva Anderson,17-year-old Camelo Ryheem Harris, 19-year-old Alau Akot Maduak and 19-year-old Kuol Wek Deng Akol are the individuals also arrested and charged for their part in the homicide.

Of the five defendants, Makuc is charged with murder while the others are charged with aggravated assault.
