Jeremy Lawrence Haywood, 26, died after being shot once in the chest outside Los Dos Compadres bar, located at 5410 E. Amarillo Blvd., at 12:18 a.m. Monday.

Haywood had just left the bar when he was shot outside the front door, according to police.
CPR was administered by two patrons until emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported Haywood to the hospital. He died at the hospital. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones.
Witnesses told police they saw two men leaving the bar at the time of the shooting, but police could not identify any suspects.
August 20, 2010 Murder warrant issued for Jose Sanudo-Perez
Police continued to investigate the death of Haywood and turned up several valuable leads. Police believe that their suspect is now in Mexico.
A complaint was filed with Potter County on August 20, 2010. In the complaint, Jose Alberto Sanudo-Perez is named as the suspected shooter.
Investigators say that they linked Sanudo-Perez to the shooting after a witness identified him from a photograph. .
The complaint details how Sanudo-Perez convinced his sister to drive him down to the Mexican border about 17 hours after he shot Haywood.
"We know he's down there because the sister took him down there and kicked him across the border thinking she was taking him to see his sick mom," said Randall Sims, the 47th district attorney.
Investigators learned that Sanudo-Perez called his sister after the shooting and told her that their mother was gravely ill and asked her help in taking him down to the Mexico border so he could be by her side.
The sister drove Sanudo-Perez to the border under the impression that she was helping her brother get to their sick mother. They drove 8 hours south and she dropped him off and returned to Amarillo.[1]
Police say that a day later, Sanudo-Perez called his sister and informed her their mother was feeling better. It was not until later that she learned the truth about her brother's involvement in Haywood's shooting. She also learned that Sanudo-Perez never visited their mother in Mexico, said investigators.[2]
According to Sims, Sanudo-Perez and the victim likely became aware of each other while they were inside the bar. He said he could not discuss what they believe prompted Sanudo-Perez to shoot Haywood about 12:20 a.m. outside the bar.
Police also said that when they searched Sanudo-Perez's residence, they found a spent shell casing from a .40-caliber gun on his bed stand. In the complaint, investigators say that the caliber and brand of the gun taken from his house match the bullet and spent casing found at the bar..
