23-year-old man found murdered inside home

Officers with Amarillo Police Department were called to the 3400 block of North Hill on a welfare check at 8:47 p.m. on March 26, 2021.

After entering the home, police found the body of 23-year-old Trevor Riley.

The crime scene indicated foul play and the APD Homicide unit was called to the scene.

Detectives are looking for several individuals who are known to have been in the residence at the time of Riley’s murder.

March 29, 2021 Warrants and Arrest

On March 29, 2021 officials said that detectives had obtained three warrants for Capital Murder involving the death of Trevor Riley. 

They arrested Brent Bernard Smith without incident and booked him into Potter County Detention Center.

March 30, 2021 Arrest of Pullen and Peebles

Amarillo police announced on March 30, 2021 that 28-year-old Colton Gene Pullen, one of the two individual suspects at-large in connection to the death of Trevor Riley, was taken into custody early that morning. 

Pullen was taken into custody for his capital murder warrant by SWAT officers with the department at 2:44 a.m. in the 6000 block of Amarillo Boulevard West.^[1]

His arrest came after 29-year-old Brent Bernard Smith was arrested for capital murder and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on March 29, 2021 in relation to the incident. 

Later in the day of March 30, police said that 20-year-old Ricky Peebles was arrested in Lubbock on March 30, 2021 for a capital murder warrant out of Potter County. 

June 1, 2021 Indictment

Colton Gene Pullen, 29, Brent Bernard Smith, 29, and Ricky Lee Peebles, 21, were indicted on June 1, 2021 for what court documents stated was “committing or attempting to commit” robbery on March 26, which turned into the shooting death of Trevor Dane Riley.
