Demond Thomas Killed in North Amarillo Drive-By Shooting

Demond Thomas, 45, died after two gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in north Amarillo on December 17, 2019. Publicly available reporting does not indicate that anyone has been arrested or charged in connection with his death.

Thomas was driving near Northeast 24th Avenue and Echo Street when two men inside another vehicle reportedly fired handguns at him. Although wounded, Thomas was initially found alive and transported to a hospital. He died from his injuries the following day, leading police to classify the shooting as a homicide.[1]

Investigators sought a red Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with tinted windows. Police said the two attackers fired from the Jeep while traveling east on Northeast 24th Avenue. Authorities did not publicly identify the gunmen or disclose a possible motive.
