Two jailed, 3 more sought in May 14 homicide
Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Amarillo Boulevard and Polk Street at 11:41 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 on a major traffic accident call.
On arrival, they found Abdul Mohamed "in one of the vehicles and....suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body." He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Amarillo police identified five suspects connected to the incident.
The two men in custody are 19-year-old Nsengiyumva Anderson, who was taken into custody by members of the department's SWAT team Saturday evening, and 17-year-old Camelo Ryheem Harris who turned himself in at the Potter County Detention Center two days after the incident.
Officials are still looking for three individuals in relation to the incident.
According to the release, detectives have warrants for 19-year-old Alau Akot Maduak, who is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 155 pounds; 19-year-old Kuol Wek Deng Akol, who is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds; and 19-year-old Makuc David Makuc, who is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 150 pounds.
All three are wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrants.
