On March 26, Amarillo Police conducted a wellness check at a residence on the 3400 block of North Hill where they found the body of 23-year-old Trevor Riley.

Based on evidence gathered at the scene and witness statements, authorities issued murder warrants for Brent Bernard Smith, Colton Gene Pullen, and Ricky Lee Peebles.

Smith was arrested the next day. On March 30, police released a statement that a SWAT task force apprehended 28-year-old Colton Pullen at a residence in the 6000 block of Amarillo Blvd.
Pullen was booked into Potter County Detention Center on the charge of Capital Murder. A grand jury indicted Pullen and two other co-defendants on June 1, 2021.

Pullen has an extensive history of crimes and was on parole at the time of the offense. He remains in Potter County in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
