July 26, 2020 Samuel Acosta

On July 26, 2020 around 1:44 a.m., Amarillo police responded to a shooting in the 1700 block of Buntin.

On arrival, they found 30-year-old Samuel Acosta with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Acosta died from his injuries several days later.[1]

A murder warrant was issued for 36-year-old Jeremiah Jay Reyna

August 12, 2020 Reyna apprehended

On August 12, 2020, the Victoria Police SWAT team apprehended Jeremiah Reyna in Victoria, Texas around 11 p.m.

Reyna was booked into the Victoria County Jail for the following charges:

The USMS Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force, the VPD Special Crimes Unit, and a VPD K9 Unit helped in the arrest of Reyna.[2]

April 20, 2022 Plea bargain

On April 20, 2022 Reyna and his counsel appeared in 108th District Court and accepted a plea agreement where he would be sentence to 40 years in prison for the murder of Acosta.
