# Murder of Jacob Isaac Valdez

Overview

Jacob Isaac Valdez, 36, was found stabbed to death inside a Northwest Amarillo home on the morning of Monday, January 2, 2017. Two men were arrested and charged with murder in connection with the killing: Jon Santos Delgado-Gordon, 26, and Kevin Ryan Jackson, 28. The case was investigated by the Amarillo Police Department's Special Crimes Unit.

Discovery of the body

Amarillo police were sent to a home in the 1600 block of LaSalle Street just before 8 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017, on a call initially described as a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a man dead at the home. Police noted the man was not a resident of that address.

The victim was later identified as 36-year-old Jacob Isaac Valdez. An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Richard Herman, and the incident was investigated as a homicide.

Investigation and arrests

Jon Santos Delgado-Gordon

Officers with APD's ProActive Criminal Enforcement Unit (PACE) gathered information about the possible location of 26-year-old Jon Santos Delgado-Gordon. He was found in the 7000 block of East I-40 on Wednesday night, January 4, 2017, and arrested. A warrant for murder had previously been issued for Delgado-Gordon. He was booked into the Potter County Jail on a charge of murder.

Kevin Ryan Jackson

A second suspect, 28-year-old Kevin Ryan Jackson, was arrested just before 10 a.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, in the area of Amarillo Boulevard and Hughes Street. Jackson was also charged with murder. Investigators with the Special Crimes Unit said he was involved in Valdez's killing.
