Guadalpe Olmos, 29, who died about 1:45 a.m. Saturday at Northwest Texas Hospital.

The shooting occurred at 11:40 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of DeBruce Grain, 620 N. Marrs St., where detectives recovered a shell casing.

They are seeking a medium-caliber handgun believed to be the which weapon used in the homicide.

Grand jury indicts man on murder charge in brother's shooting

A Potter County grand jury has indicted Gabriel Olmos-Serna, 43, for the fatal shooting of his brother Nov. 5 in northeast Amarillo.[2]

Serna, 43, is charged with murder in the shooting of his brother, 29-year-old Guadalupe Olmos, in the parking lot of DeBruce Grain, 620 N. Marrs St.

Investigators have not discussed a motive in the shooting. Potter County jail officials said Tuesday that Olmos-Serna was free on $15,000 bond.

Manslaughter plea results in probation

An Amarillo man was sentenced Thursday morning to eight years' probation after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2010 fatal shooting death of his brother, his attorney said.

Prosecutors dropped a murder charge against Gabriel Olmos-Serna, 43.

His trial had been scheduled to start in the 108th District Court in April, defense attorney Adam Tisdell said.

Under the plea deal, Olmos-Serna pleaded guilty to the manslaughter charge.

Olmos-Serna was charged in the shooting death of his 29-year-old brother Guadalupe Olmos on Nov. 5, 2010, in the parking lot of DeBruce Grain, 620 N. Marrs St.

A Potter County grand jury in April indicted Olmos-Serna on the murder charge, court records show.

The first-degree felony carries a sentence range of five to 99 years in prison.
