Amarillo woman arrested for husband's murder

A 28-year-old Amarillo woman has been arrested for the shooting death of her 25-year-old husband on Sept. 29.
According to Amarillo Police, officers were dispatched to 5003 Bowie on a shooting. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Aaron Carter, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The Amarillo Police Department's Homicide Unit investigated and determined Carter was murdered.
On Thursday, Carter's wife, 28-year-old Brittany Carter, was arrested on a murder warrant and booked into the Randall County Detention Center.

RANDALL COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — Brittney Nichole Carter is a free woman after a Randall County jury found her not guilty of murdering her husband more than three years ago.
According to court records, a jury returned a not guilty verdict for Carter on Friday after a weeklong trial stemming from the shooting death of her husband, 25-year-old Aaron Carter, in September of 2019.
Her attorney declined to comment on the case, beyond saying he thought the jury "did a wonderful job" and "God is good to us all."
Prosecutors called more than 20 witnesses during their portion of the trial over five days of the seven day trial.
Defense attorneys called only three witnesses, taking up only one day.
The jury returned their verdict the next day.
Brittney was arrested days after the shooting, and held for more than a month before making a $50,000 bond.
Her indictment came in 2020, though jail records say she was not rearrested at that time.
She was, however, rearrested twice: once in January 2021 — when she was held for more than three months, and again in October 2021.
She remained in jail up until her acquittal.
