Amarillo police investigating deadly shooting near SE 9th and Buchanan

Around 9:35 p.m. on January 25, 2022, officers were called to a 911 hangup near Southeast 9th Avenue and South Buchanan Street.

A woman at the location told police her boyfriend had been shot and led officers to a home on North Williams Street. Inside the home, police found 36-year-old Jeremie Ray Gomez dead from a gunshot wound.[1]

Officers followed her to the 700 block of North Williams Street and inside a home officers found Jeremie Ray Gomez, 36, dead from a gunshot wound.

There are no suspects at this time.

Amarillo police arrested a woman on Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of Jeremie Ray Gomez in January.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, Homicide Unit detectives obtained a murder warrant for Jaicelyn Morgan Anzualdua, 20, on Wednesday.

Anzualdua was found by APD SWAT in the 3600 block of Rio Grande and was arrested for her warrant and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

The shooting is still under investigation.
