Eastridge Park homicide

Jamor Durrell Lee, a 30-year-old Amarillo man, was beaten to death by at least two men at Eastridge School Park in the Eastridge neighborhood of Amarillo, Texas, on the evening of Wednesday, September 28, 2016. The Amarillo Police Department (APD) Special Crimes Unit investigated the killing as a homicide, released photos of a suspect and a suspect vehicle the following day, and arrested two men — Hrang Lian Mang, 23, and David Sui Cue Lian, 19 — within about 24 hours of releasing those photos.

The beating

Just after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, Amarillo police responded to Eastridge School Park, where they found citizens administering first aid to Lee. Witnesses reported that at least two men had assaulted Lee at the park. Lee was taken to a local hospital, where he later died

The APD Special Crimes Unit was called in to investigate the killing as a murder. Witnesses said two Burmese men assaulted Lee and fled the scene in what was believed to be a red, four-door Ford SUV, last seen heading southbound on Gardenia Street

An autopsy was scheduled for the morning of Friday, September 30, in Lubbock, Texas

According to APD, there had been 10 total homicides in Amarillo in all of 2015; as of this incident, there had already been 11 homicides in the city in 2016

On Thursday, September 29, 2016, Amarillo police released photos of one suspect and of the suspected getaway vehicle in hopes the public could help identify him

Arrests

After the public release of the suspect photo generated identifying information, APD Special Crimes Unit investigators obtained arrest warrants and, on Thursday, September 29, 2016, arrested two men in connection with Lee's death:

Both men were booked into the Potter County Jail on their respective charges
