Dagoberto Blanco

Dagoberto Blanco’s 2011 Driveway Murder Remains Unsolved

Dagoberto Blanco was found fatally stabbed in the driveway of his Amarillo home during the early morning of June 5, 2011. Fourteen years later, police renewed their appeal for information about who killed him and why.

At approximately 1:42 a.m., officers were sent to 1317 Jason Ave. after receiving what was initially reported as a possible cardiac emergency. A family member was attempting CPR when officers arrived, but Blanco was already dead.

Blanco’s daughter told investigators that she discovered her father after returning home. Witnesses reported seeing him alive beside his truck approximately one hour before the emergency call, leaving police with a narrow but largely unexplained window in which the attack occurred.[1]

Investigators initially observed what appeared to be a stab wound to Blanco’s upper body. An autopsy conducted in Lubbock the following day confirmed that he had been stabbed three times in the left side of his chest.[2]

Police interviewed Blanco’s relatives and friends and pursued several early leads, but none produced the identity of a suspect. Authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive, described the weapon or said whether anything was taken from the property.[3]

Contemporary reports listed Blanco as 47, while the Amarillo Police Department’s 2025 appeal identified him as 48. Regardless of the age discrepancy, official accounts agree on the circumstances and date of his death.[4]

The Amarillo Police Department renewed its request for assistance in July 2025. Detectives are particularly interested in information about anyone seen near Blanco, his truck or the Jason Avenue home during the hour before his daughter found him.[5]

No arrest has been announced, and the murder remains unsolved. Anyone with information may call the Amarillo Police Department Cold Case Unit at 806-378-6468 or email coldcaseunit@amarillo.gov. Anonymous tips may be submitted through Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400, its website or the P3 Tips app.
