Murder of Albert Phillip Pacheco Jr.
Albert Phillip Pacheco Jr., 51, was found dead in a Northeast Amarillo alley on Sunday, May 14, 2017. An autopsy determined his death was a homicide. Jorge Alberto Falcon Sanchez, 34, was later charged with his murder but has never been apprehended and remains a wanted fugitive as of the most recent confirmed status check, in September 2025.
Discovery of body
On the evening of Sunday, May 14, 2017, Amarillo Police Department officers were sent to the west alley of the 800 block of North Roosevelt around 5:45 p.m. on a report of an unconscious person who was not breathing. Medical personnel determined the person — later identified as Pacheco — was dead.
The Special Crimes Unit opened an investigation, but the cause of death could not immediately be determined. Justice of the Peace Thomas Jones ordered an autopsy, which subsequently revealed the case was a homicide. No arrests were made at that time, and the Special Crimes Unit continued investigating.
Charge and search for suspect
On Friday, May 19, 2017, APD announced that the Special Crimes Unit had obtained a warrant charging 34-year-old Jorge Alberto Falcon Sanchez with Pacheco's murder. Investigators determined Sanchez lived in the area of the homicide and recovered evidence linking him to the killing.
Sanchez was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last known to be in Amarillo on May 14, 2017, and was not known to have a vehicle at the time. Police turned to the public for help locating him.
Fugitive status
Sanchez has not been captured. A Potter County wanted-persons listing (Sanchez, DOB 07/18/1982) shows him still listed as "Wanted" on a murder charge as of a September 2025 record check, with his wanted status dating back to May 18, 2017 — meaning the case has remained unsolved with an outstanding warrant for roughly eight years as of that check.
