Corisa Tosh - Sexual Assault of a Child Case

Corisa Denise Tosh, 41, a former Borger Police Department officer, was arrested on April 29, 2015, on a felony charge of sexual assault of a child. Trooper Ray also emphasized: "Through the Rangers investigation, they determined that something did happen. The Ranger was able to obtain a warrant, and then Ms. Tosh was arrested this morning, there in Borger."

Arrest and Charges

Texas Rangers served the arrest warrant on April 29, 2015. Tosh was booked into the Hutchinson County Jail on a charge of sexual assault of a child, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Termination

Tosh was fired from the Borger Police Department on April 20, 2015, nine days before her arrest. According to reports, two officers were fired from the department, though Trooper Ray confirmed that only former officer Tosh was being investigated by the Texas Rangers. The Borger Police Department would not comment on why the other officer was fired.

Trooper Ray stated that the investigation was ongoing. When asked about how Borger police discovered the alleged incident, no authorities would comment beyond the initial statements.

Trooper Ray noted: "They're innocent until proven guilty. We want to make sure we don't taint anything."

According to later reports from 2022, Corisa Tosh (later known as Corisa Denise Earls after marriage) resigned from her position as Police Chief in Stinnett, Texas, around the same time her husband, Brian Earls, was fired from the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office for use of excessive force.

The Texas Rangers had found the 2009 sexual assault of a child report to be credible. However, the investigation showed that the incident had occurred in 2009, prior to her joining the Borger Police Department. The victim was reportedly unwilling to assist in prosecution at the time, and no further charges were pursued initially, which created a situation that allowed Tosh to continue her career in law enforcement until the 2015 arrest.
