One man dead after shooting in west Amarillo, suspect at large
On July 17, at around 2:01 p.m., Amarillo Police Department officers were called to a home on South Tennessee Street on an assault.
When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Barry Ray Hemphill dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body.[1]
APD Homicide Detectives identified 29-year-old Darius Qumaine Allen as the suspect in the shooting.
Police said they were still looking for Allen.

April 30, 2021 Allen arrested
On April 30, 2021, Amarillo police said that Allen had been arrested in Houston, Texas. Allen was located and apprehended by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
Allen was booked into Harris County jail on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.[2]
April 19, 2022
On April 19, 2022, Allen appeared in court and agreed to a plea bargain wherein he was sentenced to 25 years in TDCJ.
