July 1, 2017 Teenager shot and killed
On July 1, 2017 officers with Amarillo Police Department went to the 1600 Block of N Manhattan on a call about a shooting.[1]
On arrival, they found 18-year-old Jerrard Lancaster with other people at the scene providing CPR and life-saving measures.[2]
Lancaster was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Police arrested a juvenile suspect.
March 6, 2018
On March 6, 2018, police said they charged 17-year-old Matthew Montero Cano for the death of Lancaster.
Cano was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, but has since been certified as an adult and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
