Nicole “Nikki” Moore Remains Missing After Suspect Dies in Jail

Nicole Shante “Nikki” Moore disappeared from Amarillo, Texas, in December 2016. Her family reported her missing on December 11 after going more than a week without seeing or hearing from her. Authorities believe she was killed, but her remains have never been recovered.

Before disappearing, Moore reportedly told others she planned to travel with Billy Glenn Ivy Jr. to purchase marijuana. She expressed fear about making the trip and wanted someone else to accompany her. Cellphone records indicated that Moore’s and Ivy’s phones came together near Soncy Road and Interstate 40 before traveling west. Moore’s phone last connected to a tower near Ivy’s rural property outside Adrian in Oldham County and was then switched off.^[1]

Moore had been driving a dark blue 2012 Cadillac STS. On January 6, 2017, the car was found abandoned outside the former Toys “R” Us in the 2400 block of South Soncy Road. Police said it appeared to have been there for some time. Her wallet was found inside, but there was no sign of Moore.^[2]

Investigators searching near the location of Moore’s final cellphone signal later found an abandoned truck belonging to Bobby Lee Johns, who disappeared in June 2018. Authorities have not established whether the two disappearances are connected.^[3]

Ivy became the primary suspect in Moore’s presumed death. In April 2020, police charged him with capital murder by terror, threat or another felony in her case. He was separately charged with capital murder for remuneration in the 2016 shooting deaths of Charlesetta Telford and her unborn child.

According to police, a contraband cellphone recovered during the investigation contained recordings in which Ivy discussed Moore’s killing and concealing her body. Investigators alleged that Ivy planned to use the location of her remains as leverage for leniency after arranging another murder.

Ivy never went to trial. He was found dead in his Potter County Jail cell on September 16, 2020, with his death later attributed to a drug overdose. Police warned that his death could make locating Moore considerably more difficult.
